Today chinadialogue launches The Waters of the Third Pole: Sources of threat, sources of survival<\/em> in partnership with our research partners: University College London, King\u2019s College London and the Australian National University.<\/p>\n

The report will highlight the importance of water as both a vital resource and a potential cause of crisis in Asia. More than one in five people on earth depend on water from the ten major river systems originating at the planet\u2019s Third Pole, but the region is susceptible to high levels of climate warming, earthquake activity, extreme weather events, glacial melting and sea-level rise.<\/p>\n

We hope to open up a dialogue on an issue that could put the lives and livelihoods of millions of people at risk in the near future.<\/p>\n
