said.<\/p>\n<p>Chemical oxygen demand &#8212; a measure of water pollution &#8212; was also\u30000.28% lower, Zhou Shengxian, director of the State Environmental<br \/>\nProtection Administration, was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Zhou credited this year&#8217;s reductions to a campaign to install more\u3000desulphurising facilities in coal-fired power plants, on which China<br \/>\nrelies for about
