If the plan becomes a formal target, the unilateral goal could boost pressure on rich countries to set bold targets of their own, the report said.<\/p>\n

"I’d like to voice my concerns that if the issue is not carefully managed, it will threaten the existence of humanity in Asia in particular, and the world in general," environment minister Rachmat Witoelar was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n

However, it is not immediately clear how Indonesia would achieve the cuts. The southeast Asian nation still plans to boost the amount of coal in its energy mix by the same date, the report added.<\/p>\n
