After a two-day hearing, the air pollution control board in the state
\nof Virginia ruled that Dominion could build the 585-megawatt plant.<\/p>\n

The decision will almost certainly increase the practice of
\nmountaintop mining, the Guardian reported, where mountain peaks are
\nchopped off in order to extract coal inside. Environmentalists say the
\npractice produces toxic runoff that is dumped in local communities,
\nwith devastating consequences.<\/p>\n
