Demand from users who normally get their coal from Shanxi is expected to exceed supply by 200 tonnes this year, the report said.<\/p>\n

Many of Shanxi’s coal miners were operating beyond their certified production capacity, the report cited Wang Shouzhen, of the Shanxi Coal Bureau, as saying.<\/p>\n

This dealt a further blow to Shanxi’s fragile environment, it said, creating more dust pollution and ground subsidence, and increasing the disruption of land and of underground water flows.<\/p>\n
