UK coal plant to use biomass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The power plant signed a &pound;10 million (US$17.6 million) contract with Doosan Babcock Energy for direct-injection biomass co-firing systems that will allow its six North Yorkshire plants to mix renewable materials, such as straw, wood and food and agricultural residues, with coal.<\/p>\n<p>The company also said that it would be upgrading its wind turbines, which coupled with increased bio-mass capability, would cut its annual emissions by more than 15% by 2011.<\/p>\n<p>About 7% of Britain&#8217;s energy is supplied by Drax, the
