China has been taking positive action to deal with global warming and has decided on a national climate strategy, Ban Ki-moon told Xie Zhenhua, vice director of China's National Development and Reform Commission. It can be considered an example for other countries to follow, he said.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to the report, last year China improved energy efficiency by expanding the use of renewable energy sources, offsetting 835 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. A number of proposals made concerning mitigation, adaptation and technology transfer demonstrate China's support of international efforts to fight climate change, it said.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The UN talks in Poznan aim to negotiate an agreement on climate-change issues including long-term and mid-term emissions reduction targets for developed countries and increased funding to help the world economy transform to a low-carbon model.<\/p>\n
