Niklas Weins is a lecturer in the department of international studies at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. He holds a PhD in Environment & Society from the Center for Studies and Environmental Research (NEPAM) at the University of Campinas, Brazil, and has studied in Mexico, Germany, China and the Netherlands. His research focuses on environmental governance and compensation mechanisms in the global south and China.
