Daniel Spitzer has spent 25 of the past 30 years based in Asia, working in finance, development, and as an entrepreneur in ventures that promote sustainable development while generating attractive investment returns. His current agri-forestry venture addresses environmental and development issues in remote areas of western Sichuan province by establishing hedgerows of fruit and nut trees on mountain slopes that have been over-logged. During the course of the project, more than 10 million trees will be planted on slopes averaging from 35 to 45 degrees, which will prevent erosion and provide employment to local farmers. Previously, Spitzer founded and served as chairman & CEO of Plantation Timber Products Group ("PTP"), which led the Chinese forest products industry into sustainable forestry practices. The World Bank Group estimated that more than 650,000 farmers in western China grew trees to supply PTP, which was then China's largest manufacturer of premium composite wood products. Spitzer received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his master's degree from Stanford University.
