China, the world’s biggest emitter of the acid-rain causing pollutant, has promised to cut emissions of major pollutants by 10% between 2006 and 2010, but last year the country failed to meet its annual target, the report said.
Emissions of sulphur dioxide in the first six months of 2007 reached about 12.6 million tonnes, down 0.88% from the same period last year,
a report issued by the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) said.
