The survey of 3,001 residents aged 15 to 69 from 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions was carried out by the Beijing-based Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Concern for the environment ranked above worries about corruption, social security, house prices and education costs, the report said.
It also found 81.1% received information about environmental protection from television and radio; 47.3% received their information "from reading", the report said.
