About

Agropalma is a Brazilian oil palm producer and the largest producer of certified sustainable palm oil in Latin America. The company began its activities in 1982 and now controls its entire production chain, from oil palm seedlings to producing refined conventional and organic palm and palm kernel oil, as well as fats (palm fractions) and shortenings. Agropalma has faced controversy, with allegations of land grabbing, labour and human rights abuses, among other issues. It is just one business segment of the Alfa Group – a business conglomerate that also operates across finance, hotels, retail, and construction. The Alfa Group is owned by the five daughters of Aloysio Andrade de Faria, a banker who died in 2020.
