Tibetan antelope population grows to 150,000

The population of the endangered Tibetan antelope has grown to nearly 150,000, according to a Chinese forestry report, which took 18 years to compile and is the first scientific survey of its kind.

"There are now 149,930 Tibetan antelopes in a 698,000 km² area across 103 villages and 18 towns in Tibet," said Liu Wulin, a research fellow at the regional forestry survey. The population of the Tibetan antelope grew by 7.9% annually from 1999 to 2005.
