Dam burst in Inner Mongolia forces evacuation

Heavy rains caused a dam to burst in Inner Mongolia, state media reported. A total of 16,000 people were evacuated from the flooded region in Ar Horqin county.

The dam, which has a capacity of 3.55 million cubic metres, burst on Wednesday morning. No casualties have been reported, Xinhua cited a local government official as saying.

Around 2,670 square kilometres of grassland were flooded, the report said.
