Rare animal photographed for first time in Congo

The okapi, an extremely rare animal last seen in 1958, was photographed in its native habitat in the eastern forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo, central Africa, according to the Zoological Society of London.

The okapi, which has stripes like a zebra and a black tongue like a giraffe, was last seen in the Virunga National Park, one of the last remaining three areas the animals are believed to inhabit.
