Three Gorges Dam project to be completed in 2008

After 14 years of construction, China's Three Gorges Dam project will be completed this year, the director of the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission was reported as saying.

Only the generator units now needed to be installed on the dam, the Chutian Metropolis Daily reported Cai Qihua as saying. Once completed, he said, the plant will provide around 100 billion kilowatt hours of power.

Construction on the Three Gorges Dam Project started on December 14,1994, and its completion was originally scheduled for 2009.
