Call for participants: Workshop on reporting China's role in Southeast Asia's clean energy transition
Dialogue Earth is inviting journalists from Indonesia to apply for a practical workshop on reporting China’s engagement in the region’s clean energy transition.
The workshop will take place in Singapore on 19-20 May, followed by attendance at the Climate Group Asia Action Summit on 21 May, where journalists will have the chance to network with decision makers and experts from business, government, and civil society drawn from across the region.
About the workshop
As China’s investment footprint in Southeast Asia deepens, journalists face a growing need to report on these developments with nuance and insight. Yet covering Chinese stakeholders, navigating finance data, and framing stories that reflect genuine community concerns remains a challenge for many newsrooms.
This workshop will bring together a small cohort of experienced journalists to develop practical skills for reporting on China’s role in the region’s energy and climate landscape.
Sessions will cover:
• Dominant narratives around Chinese investment and how to test them
• How to approach and interview Chinese companies and stakeholders
• Framing stories that reflect important host country or community concerns
The workshop will also include attendance to the invite-only Climate Group Asia Action Summit in Singapore on 21 May. This will give participants the opportunity to connect with regional leaders, policymakers, and industry figures working on the clean energy transition, and to build their network for future reporting.
Dialogue Earth will cover travel and accommodation costs.
